Letters to God
A Letter to God by Ryan Hardy

“Letters to God” is based upon the true story about 8 year-old Tyler, who wrote letters addressed to God. These letters were Tyler's way of praying; it was his way of talking with God about the things that were really important to him and about the things that he had questions. These letters didn't only help Tyler deal with facing cancer but also worked to change the faith of those closest to him.

At NorthPointe we truly mean it when we say it's our desire to be a "Community of Hope."  We are blessed with many families and one very special family is in an incredibly similar journey to Tyler's.  Ryan Hardy suffered a brain tumor at age 2 and after countless treatments & hospital stays, 7 years later was also diagnosed with Luekemia.

You'll see him at church any given Sunday or with his friends at Alum Creek Elementary, & Ryan is one of our true heroes.  And though at the top of this page, you can check out his own recently written "Letter to God," it is his life and the life of his family that have regularly "written" letters of hope & faith among us.  Jeff, Laurie, Sammie & Connor surround "Rhino's" life with love and support & enrich ours every day.

If you'd like to know more about Ryan's journey and a special ministry called "Caring Bridge," check out their ongoing journal at:  http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/ryanhardy

Not long ago, during National Childhood Cancer Awareness Week, Jeff shared a special message with our church.

Like the Hardy family, your family or mine -- our church family is filled with people who face many challenges and sometimes even brokenness.  Yet our goal to "Live, Love & Leave a Legacy" ... of hope, is one we pray will become contagious.  We have found this faith in Christ & invite you to come along on that journey.

Seeking always that Legacy -- pd

P.S.  If you can't make out all of Ryan's note it reads:

Dear God:

I know you can help me get through this.

You already have been through (so much with me).

I still have two years (of treatments) & will speed through it.

It will be fun because I have my friends, family and you in my life.

Ryan
